The Roman inscriptions in Alhambra are monumental and are found in an imitation of a Roman temple in the Plaza de España. These inscriptions were probably ordered by Roman generals in gratitude and commemoration, as Alhambra was a place of accommodation for some Roman legions.
The toga statues, both male and female, are made of white marble and date from the 1st century AD. These statues represent figures dressed in the toga, following the strict canons of Roman imperial statuary.
