The Störmthaler lake is located in the middle of the Leipzig New Zealand southeast of Leipzig. Since the end of 2012, it has been completely flooded. Unique feature of the Störmthaler lake is the floating art object VINETA, a unique event location in Europe.
The already existing water connection to the likewise already flooded and opened Markkleeberger See is the first water connection of two lakes in Leipzig New Zealand. The mining technology park in the immediate vicinity of the lake is also an interesting destination.
A maritime harbor for sailboats is located on the south shore of the lake.
