Vandring
The sculpture of King D. Afonso Henriques by contemporary sculptor João Cutileiro was inaugurated on June 24, 2001. The sculpture overlooks the Old Town Gate. It was considered the most important of the numerous gates in the old wall that provided access to the interior of the town of Guimarães. Kings, queens, and other figures entered through this gate and were received with due honors.
