The Genoa National Fish Hatchery focuses differently than the state fish hatcheries I have visited. State fish hatcheries focus on reproducing game fish to stock the state's streams and lakes. In contrast, the Genoa National Fish Hatchery focuses on endangered species like Lake Sturgeon and even non-fish species such as mussels and the Hines Emerald Dragonfly. The visitor center has informative displays and staff. An outdoor boardwalk trail offers a close-up look at the hatchery ponds.
