The Frankfurt City Hall is one of the oldest and largest city halls in Germany. The medieval building, an elongated rectangular building, divided the market square into a western and eastern half, the so-called upper and lower market.
The construction of this representative house began immediately after the city charter was granted in the second half of the 13th century. However, the magnificent southern gable was not built until the second half of the 14th century.
