The construction lasted from 1772 to 1777.
The church suffered heavily in the Homeland War. The most violent attacks on the church took place on November 20, 1991, when the Serbian aggressor destroyed the church with artillery attacks all afternoon. The climax of the rampage happened the same evening, when the tower was set on fire and the bells were destroyed.
The restoration of the church lasted from 1994 to 1998, and in 1999 the belfry was completed, on which 4 new bells were placed.
