There was a unique opportunity to visit the freestanding church towers of Hjo, Karlsborg & Tibro. We did not visit Norra Fågelås. The Ransberg Tower was built between 1383 and 1407, at 24 meters it is the highest and weighs 55 tons. When the bells ring, one should think of the inscription on the large bell: "Do not live in safety, soon your grave will open, walk wisely, think of the end". Profound words and oh so unforgettable.
