The church in Richiș (German: Reichesdorf) is a significant example of late Gothic religious architecture in Transylvania and is one of the region's most historically interesting fortified churches.
Originally built as a Catholic basilica in the 14th century, it was later converted into a Protestant fortified church by the Transylvanian Saxons.
The church was dedicated to Saint Paul and served both religious and defensive purposes.
In the 16th century, it was expanded into a fortified church with walls, battlements, and a defense tower.
