Mountainbiking
From Wilsede two paths lead southwards to the ground of the dead. Once there, you have a great view over the heath and far beyond - absolutely recommendable! Interesting for mountain bikers: From the vantage point, several trails lead down: the Totentrail, the Holzbergtrail and Steingrundtrail. Have fun!

The Dead Ground - A valley of unearthly beauty
The dead-ground theory
As in the Totengrund, as in the rest of the heathland, there were only a few nutrients in the soil and there was also no spring or stream, neither cattle nor fields could be operated in the area of the Totengrund. The Totengrund was formerly also called "Toter Grund" by the heather farmers. The only plants were juniper and heather. But people could not (survive) live from it.

Vandring
The landscape here in Totengrund has its own unique charm in every season. Many visitors especially like to come in August, when a sea of purple flowers covers the entire landscape. Personally, I like this quiet place best in autumn and winter, when fog or frost makes the expansive nature sparkle. You feel like you are in the middle of a watercolor painting.
