Perhaps the least known the list of famous burials here is thin - try Sir Polydore de Keyser for the fantastic name and because he was the first Catholic Lord Mayor of London since the Reformation. Founded in 1840 it is the second largest of the magnificent seven. Open from 0830 to dusk. Cycling not allowed.

One of the seven private cemeteries created in the then outskirts of London between 1832 and 1841 when the London churchyard cemeteries became overcrowded and decaying bodies started to contaminate the water supply. Nunhead cemetery is also a nature reserve.
