The Jan VI Turzo Embankment, built in the 1530s and 1540s at the behest of Jan VI Turzo, is a 3-kilometer-long earthen rampart protecting Bieruń from flooding by the Great Bieruński Pond. A significant monument of earth engineering, the structure was built according to contemporary principles, including reinforcing the sides with wicker and turf and installing drainage mechanisms. The rampart was drained around 1825, and a nature trail now stands in its place.
