Known to the ancients, the crypt remained for a long time a little-known local heritage and we had to wait for 19th century scholars and in particular Leo Drouyn to learn more about its history.
Listed as historic monuments since September 24, 1965, the remains are located north of Bourg-sur-Gironde. They take the form of an open arch at the side of the road leading to what remains of the nave as well as an underground crypt.
