Beautiful church, lends itself to a short photo stop. The old church was built in 1496 and then rebuilt in 1760.

The believers of Wimpassing (hr: Vimpas, hu: Vimpác) built a church in 1496, but the altarpiece was missing. Farmers working on the banks of the Laitha found a beautiful statue of the Virgin Mary, which they then donated to the church.
In 1529, a Turkish commander of the siege of Vienna took this statue while retreating (he is said to have been a devotee of the Virgin Mary). When he became seriously ill, he had the statue sent back on the advice of a swineherd - and miraculously recovered.
