The wheel is a reminder that the design and manufacture of water turbines was of particular importance here in Filipstad from the end of the 19th century until 1965. The turbines were sold all over the world.
This Francis-type turbine wheel was manufactured by the Finshyttan factory in 1950. The wheel was installed at the Krokströmmen power station in Härjedalen and could develop 23,000 revolutions per minute at a head of 58 metres and 214 revolutions.
