Nordic walking

There were cave dwellings here as early as the Paleolithic period (8000 BC) and the Celts and later the Romans were active in mining. The myth of these small creatures who mostly went about their work at night and left valuable ore with them still lives on today. Killewittchen is also the name of a local excursion restaurant (company holidays in November). As mining progressed over the centuries, nothing remained of the caves.

Killewittchen is an area west of the Eschweiler district of Hastenrath in the eastern Eschweiler city forest. The name comes from a legend in which the “Killewittchen” are described as mining dwarves or ghosts. They are said to be extremely helpful at night. You can eat well in the Killewittchen restaurant. It is located at Killewittchen 3, 52249 Eschweiler and offers a varied menu with regional ingredients and freshly prepared dishes.
