Although artificially dammed, the path along is still cozy. There are benches for resting here and even a covered break hut, oddly enough only with a very narrow bench.

The Bornbach retention basin is a 1.4 hectare lake in Hamburg.

Instead of going to the outdoor pool, the lake offers pure relaxation in the middle of nature. There is enough space on the surrounding lawns for sunbathing, playing or picnicking. From May to September, the Bornbach retention basin is a popular excursion destination. Whether for families, friends or couples, the Bornbach retention basin is the address for warm days.

The lake is also ideal for anglers and is a popular destination, especially in autumn.

The 6 km long, narrow Bornbach flows in the north of Hamburg, originating near the Tangstedter Landstrasse. The straightened mini body of water crosses several residential areas and fills retention basins. The creek, with its diverse greenery, covers part of its route through several allotment gardens until it flows into the Tarpenbek near the Krohnstieg tunnel in front of the airport site.
A green landscape with oaks, lime trees and chestnuts awaits you here, which was created in 2001.
The Bornbach was dammed near the Kiwitsmoor underground station to form this idyllic reservoir, around which a beautiful hiking trail leads.
