Vandring
The church, built in 1666, is named after Nuestra Señora de la Peña. On the main altar there is an alabaster figure of the Virgin Mary, 23 centimeters high, in the French late Gothic style. The figure represents the rock maiden (Our Lady of the Peña), patron saint of the island since 1675.

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Peña. According to legend, the two Franciscan monks San Diego de Alcalá and Fray Juan de San Torcaz from the monastery of San Buenaventura found the statue of the Virgin of the Peña in a crevice in the rock during a light phenomenon. The crevice below the small church can be reached via a bridge. The fine alabaster statue has Norman features and was probably brought to the island by Jean de Béthencourt. Today it forms the central element in the village church of Vega de Río Palmas.
