Ruins of the monastery of Saint Nicolaos. Picturesque ruins, only the church is intact. We didn't find out what the ruins are all about. There is a key in the church door, but we couldn't open it.

From the gravel road to the Koudouma Monastery, another gravel road branches off, which can be used to reach the monastery and the picturesque ruins.

On the wild and dry stretch from Sternes to Kofinas we come across the abandoned village and church of St. Nicholas (celebrated on December 6th). The church was an outpost of the Koudoumas Monastery and the village is mentioned in a document from 1577.
During World War II, in 1942, the monks of Koudoumas were expelled by the Germans and took refuge in the monastery of St. Nicholas where they kept their relics. During the war, the monastery hosted the guerrillas of the region.
