Emanuel Geibel lived at Escheberg Castle for two years and reached it after a hike from Lübeck. Here he composed the song "May has come", which can be read in the refuge.
The pavilion with a beautiful view of the castle grounds and the golf course behind is unfortunately not signposted. You have to know much more that you can and may reach it via a steep meadow path. Once at the top, it is an ideal resting place in memory of the poet.
