Cykling
Park your car here or get the train to this stop. (Northern Rail so no need to book your bike). Station contains many historic surviving features and was a hub of activity in the 19th century. The town is considered to be at the Centre of England and has distinctive Bastle Houses on the main street; fortified buildings due to unrest during the Border Rivers period. A fine 12th century church too. Shops, pubs etc. but Tourist Information, situated in the Library (when it's open) is pretty sparse!

Haltwhistle railway station is on the Tyne Valley Line, which runs between Newcastle and Carlisle via Hexham.
