The church is part of the complex surrounding the Zweinaundorf manor, which was incorporated into Mölkau in 1934. It was built in 1614 by Johan Scipio. Inside is the tombstone of Scottish scholar Alexander Alesius, professor of theology in Leipzig and grandfather of the church founder. After a partial demolition, the church was rebuilt in 1710. In 1863 Friedrich Ladegast built a new organ with 12 stops. Three of these have survived since the last renovation in 2000. A comprehensive renovation in 1906 gave the Mölkau church its present Art Nouveau appearance.
