The Schlechtsarter Schweiz nature reserve is located in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia. It extends east of Trappstadt, a market in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld in Bavaria, and north of Gompertshausen, a district of Heldburg. The state road L 2671 runs to the east and the state border with Bavaria runs on the western edge of the area. To the west - on Bavarian territory - the 253.3 hectare nature reserve Altenburg near Trappstadt extends.

The 538.5 hectare area with the NSG no. 265 was placed under nature protection in 2010 and, with its dry grasslands, is an important habitat for rare plants and animals.

These are Keuper ridges running parallel in an east-west direction in the Grabfeld, on the northern slopes with structurally rich oak-hornbeam forests, on the southern slopes with large areas of dry limestone grassland and some orchards.

The Schlechtsarter Schweiz nature reserve is located in the Hildburghausen district of Thuringia.
