The Gare de Strasbourg is in the "core" at the end of the 19th century after the plans of Berlin architect Johann Eduard Jacobsthal built in the style of the neo-Renaissance station. The listed façade of the reception building is now enclosed by a glass porch, the "Verrière", built in 2007 as part of the refurbishment and modernization of the station, designed by the Parisian architect Jean-Marie Duthilleul.
