One of the most remarkable buildings in Wels is the town hall with its representative baroque façade, the heavy window baskets and the stone portal. The attic, richly decorated with stucco and stone vases, bears the coats of arms of the federal states. The town hall originally consisted of two town houses, which were built together between 1736 and 1739 according to plans by Johann Michael Prunner. In addition to Prunner, local workers were involved in the reconstruction of the town hall.
