Washeshu Peak, meaning "the people" in the Washoe language, was once known as Squaw Peak. However, in an effort to eliminate the word "squaw" from names and landmarks in the US due to its offensive nature to Native Americans, the name was changed. From this point, the views are amazing and well worth the effort to reach.
