The various open markets around Barnett Street are more engaging with the authenticity of life in Montego Bay. Despite the potential apprehension when first venturing through the area, it remains in fact quite safe when applying some common sense. There is a flurry of products, colours and smells, which reflect how entrepreneurial the locals are. With regard to potential souvenirs, prices are likely to be more affordable there than on The Hip Strip and the market is only about a kilometre away.
