The Collegiate Church of the Holy Cross is a three-aisled Gothic hall church and was built between 1416-1420, after the former construction had fallen victim to a fire. From 1605 began several alterations, starting with the construction of the tower. The Holy Cross, one of the most important works of art of the German High Middle Ages, found its place on the high altar in 1628 for the first time. With the reconstruction from 1605, the Pollinger church began to become what is so admired today: a harmonious unity of three eras.
