Besisahar is a municipality and the district headquarters of Lamjung District. Located on the Marsyangdi River at 760 m, Besisahar is the starting point of the Annapurna Circuit trekking route.
Lamjung Durbar, the Royal Palace of Lamjung, situated above the town, is the birthplace of the Royal family of Lamjung in 1663 AD. It is the place where the founder of Shah Dynasty in Nepal ruled the small principality of Lamjung.
