It is an ancient path that connects the Aurunci Mountains with the coast and once allowed ice to be transported from the Pozzi della Neve to Gaeta for sale to merchant ships.
Following the path you can see the stone structures built to preserve the path. This snow route connected the area of Piano Terruto and Monte Tuonaco to the coast. Here it is still possible to see the ancient Pozzi della Neve. The path can also be used to reach the Acquaviva refuge on foot from Formia station
