The history of the castle begins in the 12th century, when the name of the place was called Suinwart or Swinwart, which referred to a high stand for wild boar hunting. Today's early baroque castle dates back to the renovation of the moated castle by the Counts of Abensperg. It still belongs to them today. In 1973/78 the building, which was damaged in 1945, was renovated.
