East Dean is a village of barely three blocks around a very traffic-calmed Village Green. There is the Tiger Inn, a nice deli where you can also buy a picnic, and a few other eateries. At the Village Green you will discover a house that announces with a bright blue sign that Sherlock Holmes stayed there after his retirement.

East Dean is a charming village nestled in the South Downs National Park.
It's known for its picturesque setting and quaint, traditional English village atmosphere. The Tiger Inn, a historic pub in the heart of the village is perched on the village green, a focal point of the village.
East Dean holds a special connection to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes, as it is believed to be the inspiration for the village of East Dean in one of the Sherlock Holmes stories.
