The underground river Idume flows into this point, creating a humid environment near the truly suggestive beach. In some periods it is possible to admire birdlife.

The reclamations of the period following the Second World War transformed the coastal marshy areas into fertile agricultural areas. Some protected reserves remain of the original humid habitat such as those of Rauccio and Le Cesine (further south). Lagoon characteristics distinguish both the Idume and Acquatina basins. The latter, covering 100 hectares, is bordered by dunes and surrounded by Mediterranean scrub. There are numerous aquatic birds and migratory species.
