The church, built in 1653, is located on an old holy site on which a torture column, three burial mounds and two linden trees stood as early as the 16th century. Between 1643 and 1645 a small chapel was built there and an old image of the Virgin Mary was installed. After the discovery of a healing spring, Weihenlinden developed into a pilgrimage that reached the Weyarn Monastery in 1650. Three years later, a large church was built over the older octagonal chapel by Provost Valentin, which was consecrated in 1657.

The cycle path that passes by here is brilliant and deserves the recommendations it already gets. But this "rest and enjoyment bench with a view of the Alps" also deserves a HIGHLIGHT in itself!!!

I am always drawn here:

- the view over the endless meadows to the south towards the mountains,

- the view of the pilgrimage church of Weihenlinden, whose two towers look like one from here,
- the peace and quiet that you enjoy here (no street noise)
- the shade provided by the lush tree,
- the relaxation that comes when you linger here
