According to Wikipedia, a Nuraghe is a prehistoric tower building of the Bonnanaro culture (2200-1600 BC) and the subsequent Nuraghe culture (around 1600-400 BC) in Sardinia, which is inextricably linked to it. They come in a wide variety of structures. Their purpose is controversial.
