Thirteenth stop of Bishop Sigeric, who mentioned in his diary the place "Turreiner", a post station where it was convenient to stop for supplies. With the fall of the Republic of Siena, Torrenieri also lost its importance and became a modest village. Torrenieri, previously a castle and an autonomous municipality with the reform of 1777, became a hamlet of the municipality of Montalcino.
