This is about 7km of fairly easy switch backs to the top. As close as Alpine fun as you’ll get in the South West. Bring your £1 for the toll. It is worth it for the achievement, views and good surface.

Don't be put off by the £1 bicycle toll (can be paid by cash or card and they only charge you once if your ride down and back up again)! Even if you fancy the challenge of the infamous Porlock Climb, then the toll road is well worth visiting. A blissfully quiet road that winds up from the town of Porlock towards Lynmouth. The gradient is gentle over the 5km (ish) road with the occaisional steep switchback.

Blair is right this is a wonderful little climb in Devon, for me its better than the climb through Cheddar Gorge, less spectacular but also much quieter, a must visit if you are in the area on a road bike.
