The Beltringharder Koog is located on the North Sea coast in the north of Schleswig-Holstein and is an impressive nature reserve that attracts nature lovers as well as cyclists and hikers. It is located west of Husum and northwest of the Nordstrand peninsula. The Koog was created in the 1980s by embanking and filling up land to serve as compensation for other coastal construction projects. Today the Beltringharder Koog is one of the most important protected areas for waders and water birds on the German North Sea coast.
