The battle of Alarcos is a battle that was fought next to the castle of Alarcos, located on top of a hill next to the Guadiana river, near the current Spanish city of Ciudad Real, on July 19, 1195, between the Christian troops of Alfonso VIII of Castile and the Almohads of Abū Ya'qūb Yūsuf al-Mansūr.
