The Alsheim church combines outstanding architecture and pictorial art from two eras – late Gothic and Baroque. The choir erected in 1517 has been preserved from the older church. Its magnificent star vault shows sophisticated craftsmanship: as purely decorative elements, without a supporting function, so-called "air ribs" grow out of the wall surfaces and combine with the other vault ribs to form artistic figurations.
