This famous route is known for its stunning natural beauty, historical significance, and recreational opportunities. It's an Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road.
The initial 50 miles of the Seward Highway run along the base of the Chugach Mountains and the shore of Turnagain Arm, providing chances to observe beluga whales, Dall sheep, waterfalls, and eagles. The rest of the drive passes through mountainous terrain, offering dramatic vistas of Alaska's untamed wilderness.
