The Alcaudete Castle was built by the Arabs on the remains of a Roman fortification and was taken over by the Christians in the 11th century.
The council bought the houses around the castle so that they would be empty and give the monument more visibility.
Currently, the castle is a tourist-cultural space that houses the Interpretation Center on the life of the military Order of Calatrava and is the setting for cultural shows.
