The main square in Melk is a central meeting point and a historic jewel of the town. Here you will find late medieval commercial buildings, including the houses at Hauptstrasse No. 10, 12 and 14, which all feature late Gothic bay windows on the upper floor.

The church as it stands today was extensively renovated and re-Gothicized after a major fire in the 19th century. Particularly noteworthy are the neo-Gothic altars, the pulpit, the Stations of the Cross reliefs and the choir stalls, all of which date from the second half of the 19th century.
