Archaeological research has established beyond any doubt that the Białogard stronghold was established in the forks of the Parsęta and Liśnica rivers as early as the 8th century. Białogard is one of the oldest strongholds in Pomerania. Initially, it was a defensive settlement with about 70 inhabitants, then in the 9th-10th century a tribal stronghold, in the 11th century a Piast stronghold and at the beginning of the 12th century a princely stronghold.
