this place is no more - about 500 people lived here until 1945, in the 50s the last ones were expelled and the area became a restricted zone of the Iron Curtain. The church withstood a blast and from then on was only used as an observation tower. Interesting detail: the border guards and the residents and children of Hammern cavorted here and there to bathe in the Maltsch. Since this river is neutral territory as long as you don't step on the other bank, there were often encounters of a special kind here.

On the one hand, it is sad that this was a death zone for humans for almost 40 years, but on the other hand, nature experienced a recovery phase during this time that is still evident today.
