"Since July 24, 2020, the DRF Luftrettung rescue helicopter Christoph 42 has been housed on the site after the station at the previous location had become too small. The helicopter type EC145 was replaced by a modern H145. The helicopter is the only 24-hour one -Helicopters in Schleswig-Holstein."

Sightseeing flights with helicopters, powered aircraft or microlights are offered there. The airfield belongs to the small community of Hörsten and is located directly on a protected biotope landscape with rare fauna and flora.
