Villalcázar de Sirga, in the province of Palencia, is a small town steeped in history, art, and spirituality, especially linked to the Templars and the Way of St. James.
Originally called Villasirga, it appears in documents dating back to the 11th century.
It was the seat of a Templar commandery, the only one in Castile, and its main church was built by the Knights Templar in the 13th century.

Villalcázar de Sirga is a municipality on the Way of St. James in the autonomous community of Castile-León/Spain. It lies at an altitude of 830 m and has 175 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022). The place name includes villa – village, hamlet; Alcázar – roughly: castle (from Arabic al-qasr, the house) and Sirga – path, footpath; which when put together results in 'village at the castle on the way (to Santiago)'.
