23km climb from the Zerafshan River to the Shahriston tunnel. The south portal of the tunnel is also the highest point on the road north to Khujand.
Komoot seems to have wrong information on the height profile. The climb is a steady 6-8% gradient most of the way. There are a few short stretches of below 4% gradient to give you a break. And the maximum is 9%, not 20% as Komoot states. The road surface is asphalt in very good condition (2022).

The pass road to the Schariston Tunnel at 2720m is tarred and in very good condition. With a permanent incline of 5-10%, it is challenging with packed bikes, but definitely manageable. Grandiose prospects. Restaurants and small stalls on the route.
