The monument was unveiled in 1924 and was dedicated to 280 inhabitants of the city who died in the First World War. The plaques with their names have not survived, and the soldier's helmet in its center has also been destroyed. After World War II, the monument was adapted for religious purposes. Today, there is a statue of the Virgin Mary.
