Prince Leopold III Between 1809 and 1812, Friedrich Franz had his master builder Carlo Ignazio Pozzi build a tomb for himself on an artificial hill made of field stones. This octagonal classicist building was modeled on the Tower of the Winds in Athens and was initially called the Tower of the Eight Winds, but was quickly given the popular name Napoleon's Tower, contrary to the prince's wishes. A bust of Napoleon is said to have stood in the entrance area of the tower until around 1860.[1]
