Reedbeds are valuable wetlands (reedbeds) that thrive as riparian vegetation along still or slow-flowing waters, in bogs, and on wet meadows. Common reed (Phragmites australis) grows in shallow water (up to approximately 1 m deep) or on wet soils and serves as an important habitat for birds (e.g., bittern) and for water purification.
